Under the Christmas Tree

Guess who’s back?! Yayyy this girl right here :) School just ended and I can finally say I’m a senior now! #senioryeareffit Hahaha! A lot of things are in store for me this upcoming Fall and I’m really looking forward for it. But for now, here are some of the photo shoots I’ve done for Yearbook. I never got the chance to upload them, because of the tons of homework and projects that I had. So I’ll share as much as I can now!

This set is not my best, but I’ll still keep them for my portfolio - I wanna see how much I have improved! In the actual yearbook, original colors were published since we were not allowed to manipulate them. But for this set, I decided to use monotonous colors to reinforce the dark and cold winter (well actually, we never had an actual “winter”. It was 70F degrees on Christmas Day! Unbelievable!) I promise, this would be the last time I will attempt to get that vintage/Instagram effect before going to Yearbook camp, where I will learn more about Photoshop techniques! Can I get my MAC now?

PS: Colors will be different in different computers due to dissimilar monitor calibrations. And Tumblr quality. Please do visit my Flickr account!

Grand Canyon (Instagram Effect Version)

As I had mentioned, I’ve always wanted to try a retro/instagram theme in my photos. And I definitely picked the wrong entry to try it. During spring break, my family also crossed over Arizona and finally continued our long overdue trip at the Grand Canyon. My edited photos will not do justice on how breathtaking and absolutely beautiful this place is. So I apologize.

The drive from Las Vegas, NV to the Grand Canyon takes about 4 hours, more or less. The route seemed like we were nowhere. No buildings or rest areas. Only a straight rough road. It was pretty scary when you think about the what ifs. What if our car breaks down.. what if someone stops us.. what if..

But then on the other hand.. it was peaceful. Being away from urbanization.

And I really think that is the beauty of the Grand Canyon. The Hualapai Tribe has really contained its purity.

Halfway the crazy rough road up to the Canyon, you can only literally see mountainsand plains.

A humongous white tent rests up ahead where you can purchase your tickets and tours and it serves as a rest area too. I thought that was really cool.

Several Native American products were also on sale. My mom bought another dream catcher as an accessory for the car.

Houses of the Hualapai Tribe were also present. It was surprisingly cool inside!

The main attraction: The Skywalk, a transparent bridge that overlooks the Canyon and the Colorado River.

Even though it was really expensive, the experience was really priceless. I just don’t understand why they do not allow people to bring at least their cameras to take pictures while on the bridge. Sure they have photographers for you, but really? $100 for those?! Adding how the photos were low quality? That was a really big disappointment for me. We probably only got 1 decent photo. The rest are just crap. Shadows on faces? No. It’s really funny how the photographer had a speedlight and decided not to use it. AT LEAST check if the photos were good.

At Eagle Point. For a clear view, visit my Flickr page! It’s in original colors, btw.

My parents are the cutest.

Signs and symbols were also present everywhere. I wish I knew what each symbolizes.

Fail heart, lol. This photo is my favorite out of all the photos I edited. I just love the outcome!

This.. photo..

I’m so frustrated of this photo. I know I could have taken it at a better angle.. but my framing paralysis acted up -.- The moment was so perfect.. His expressions and all.. Sigh..

Lesson learned.

Original colors available in my Flickr account - please do check!

I would love to visit here again.. but with a helicopter. My dad said it is really uncomfortable riding a helicopter. But I still want to try!

For my AP English spring break homework, we were assigned to read Into the Wild. I was thinking of Chris [Alex] McCandless the whole time I was there. He really loved this place. Also, while we were in Arizona, we also crossed the same places Chris had visited. That was pretty cool. As weird [nerdy?] as this may sound, I felt like he was there :O

The book really got in to me. I may not agree with a few of his points, but he definitely changed how I view life.

YOLO, as they say.
